Taken during an unexpectedly brisk midsummer's day (yeah, yeah, pile on the late-hate) these images show a very last-minute makeup decision that , serendipitously, worked out well.  Matching makeup and headgear to an ensemble as vibrant as this was no small feat, and experimentation with white eyeliner could easily have gone awry. To soften it, I threw in some subtle glitter green to white ombre effect, in order to counterbalance the high shine of the lips.
So how would you solve a borderline costume situation (not unlike this look)? Make sure your color scheme is not only uniform, but balanced; too much of any one color can detract from other details, and let's be real: if you've spent enough time choosing the perfect ensemble, why would you let your makeup compromise the outfit's artistic integrity?
